Day surgery

Day surgeryAll surgeries performed at our clinic are day surgeries that do not require hospitalization.

The estimated time from the arrival at the hospital to the time you leave, including consultation and surgery, is 90 to 150 minutes for one leg only, and 150 to 210 minutes for both legs.

You can walk immediately after the surgery, so it is possible to go sightseeing in Tokyo on the day of treatment.

Less pain

Less painAThe endovascular ablation using a laser catheter that we perform leaves no scar on the surface of the body and causes much less postoperative pain compared to conventional stripping surgery.

Are you worried that the painkiller injection itself might be painful?

At our clinic, local anesthesia is administered while the patient is asleep with a sedative, so you will not feel any pain at all.

Surgery is done while sleeping

Surgery is done while sleepingWe use intravenous sedation to achieve the patient’s ideal: all treatment is completed while the patient is sleeping comfortably.

Beautiful postoperative appearance

Beautiful postoperative appearanceVaricose veins have various shapes, such as twisted, bulging, and spiderweb-like veins.

We are particular about the appearance after surgery and focus on treatment methods and results that make scars as inconspicuous as possible.

varicose veins

What is varicose veins?

Varicose veins are most commonly found in the legs and are enlarged due to increased pressure in the veins of the lower body caused by standing and walking.
Stasis of blood flow may lead to the formation of dermatitis and skin ulcers.

  • Causes

Venous valves are present in veins and prevent backflow of blood. When the venous valves dysfunction occurs, the backflow and stagnation of blood forms varicose veins. There are seven main causes of venous valve dysfunction.

    1. Standing work / desk work
    2. Pregnancy
    3. Heredity
    4. Aging
    5. Obesity
    6. Constipation
    7. Gender

  • What happens if left untreated?

If the venous valves do not work properly, blood can pool in the veins and damage them.
Waste products and water in the body also accumulate, causing edema in the legs and leading to heaviness. And as the blood circulation continues to fail, the veins gradually become tortuous and enlarged.
Stasis of blood flow can cause dermatitis and itching, and worse, skin ulcers and bleeding.
Although not immediately life-threatening, it is a disfiguring and deteriorating quality of life condition, so early consultation is recommended for those with even mild symptoms.

Travel Information / Preoperative Interview and Preparation

Please arrive at the hospital on time for your appointment. After completing the reception, you will enter the surgery preparation room. We will measure your temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and weight in order to check your physical condition and determine the dosage of intravenous anesthesia. When you are ready, you will be transferred to the operating room.step3

Confirmation of surgical site

After entering the operating room, the site will be checked.step4

step5

Intravenous anesthesia

step5
After positioning yourself on the operating bed, your blood pressure, EKG, and oxygen saturation will be checked. An intravenous antibiotic infusion and oxygen inhalation will be started, followed by intravenous anesthesia. After you are asleep, the surgery will begin.step5

step6

Surgical procedures

● Laser catheter insertion
Ultrasound is used to identify the varicose vein to be treated. Local anesthesia is applied to the skin surface where the catheter is inserted. The laser catheter is inserted into the saphenofemoral vein junction (SFJ).
● Local anesthesia
After confirming that the catheter is inserted to the correct position, local anesthesia is given on the skin surface and around the great saphenous vein.
● Endovenous thermal ablation
Heat is directed through a catheter to occlude the targeted blood vessel.

step7

Postoperative procedures

After the surgery, the wound is disinfected and an adhesive bandage is applied. To prevent contamination from anesthetic solution and blood leaking from the injected needle hole, gauze will be applied and elastic bandages will be wrapped around the entire leg, and a supporter or elastic stockings will be worn over the bandages. After moving to the recovery room and resting for 15 to 30 minutes, we check that you are fully awake from the anesthesia, that your vitals are normal, and that there is no blood seeping through the bandages, and then change your clothes to complete the entire process.

Precautions for surgery

  • Please avoid eating for at least 6 hours prior to the surgery.
  • Please note that if you are sick or have any symptoms on the day of surgery, we may not be able to perform the surgery
  • Please make sure to remove your makeup in order to monitor your perioperative condition.
  • Please remove all jewelry and change into the surgical gown.
